Designer: Alexander McQueen
Known for his unconventional designs and shocking approach, he has received numerous accolades for his dramatic designs, and has a loyal clientele that includes avant-garde fashion styles such as Bjork ,Lady Gagaand Rihanna, and has been awarded British Designer of the Year four times.
Born in the working-class of London as the youngest of six children, his father was a taxi driver. He left school at the age of 16 and worked in Savile Row.He was hired as an assistant to a tailor .
In 1992, her graduation collection from Central Saint Martinscaught the eye of Isabella Blow, a Vogue editor and stylist, which led toher debut..
He participated in the London Collection in 1996. That same year,he was appointed designer for Givenchy , but in December 2000, he sold 51% of his shares in McQueen to the GucciGroup. This caused a rift between him and Givenchy within LVMH. He was replaced as designer when his contract expired in October 2001.
He also designed the second line, McQ.
