ABOUT motonari ono
・Established in 2006 by Motonari Ono.
- About Motonari Ono
Graduated from Mejiro Design School in 2002.
Then moved to the UK and enrolled in London College of Fashion Foundation. Graduated at the top of his class.
In 2003, he enrolled in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.
In the same year, while still a student, he was scouted by Bora Aksu and withdrew from the school.
In 2006, he returned to Japan and launched his eponymous brand "motonari ono."
Participated in Japan Fashion Week from the 08-09 A/W collection.
Selected as a finalist in the "MANGO Fashion Awards," the world's largest fashion competition held in 2010.
October 2011: Received the DHL Award at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.
December 2011: Designed and produced costumes for the Mercedes-Benz booth at TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2011.
February 2012: Presented his work in an installation format at LEATHER JAPAN during New York Fashion Week.
April 2012: Designed the uniform for Kao EST, which opened in Shibuya Tokyu HIKARIE.
March 2013: Designed the uniform for the reception desk at Shibuya Tokyu HIKARIE.
May 2013: Selected as the Japanese representative designer for the prestigious INTERNATIONAL WOOLMARK PRIZE competition.
May 2014: Selected for the second time as the Japanese representative designer for the INTERNATIONAL WOOLMARK PRIZE.
He also works as a freelance pattern maker and illustrator, and has designed advertisements for Mary Quant.
