Designer: Alexander McQueen
Known for his unconventional and impactful designs, his dramatic creations have been highly acclaimed, attracting avant-garde fashion enthusiasts such as Björk, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna among his clientele. He also won British Designer of the Year four times.
Born as the youngest of six siblings in a working-class district of London. His father was a taxi driver. He left school at 16 and was hired as an assistant at a tailor on Savile Row.
In 1992, he debuted after his graduate collection at Central Saint Martins caught the eye of Isabella Blow, who was known as a "Vogue" editor and stylist..
He participated in London Fashion Week in 1996. The same year, he was appointed as a designer for Givenchy, but in December 2000, he sold 51% of "McQueen company" shares to the Gucci Group. This caused a falling out with Givenchy, which is part of LVMH. He was removed as designer upon the expiration of his contract in October 2001.
