ABOUT motonari ono
・Established in 2006 by Motonari Ono.
-About Motonari Ono
Graduated from Mejiro Design College in 2002.
He then moved to the UK and enrolled in the London College of Fashion Foundation, graduating as valedictorian.
In 2003, he enrolled in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp.
In the same year, while still enrolled, he was scouted by Bora Aksu and dropped out of the academy.
In 2006, he returned to Japan and launched his eponymous brand, "motonari ono."
Participated in Japan Fashion Week from the 08-09 A/W collection.
Selected as a finalist for the "MANGO Fashion Awards," the world's largest fashion competition, held in 2010.
October 2011: Received the DHL Award at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.
December 2011: Responsible for designing and producing costumes for the Mercedes-Benz booth at the TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2011.
February 2012: Presented works in an installation format at LEATHER JAPAN during New York Fashion Week.
April 2012: Designed the uniforms for Kao EST at the newly opened Shibuya Tokyu HIKARIE.
March 2013: Designed the reception uniforms for Shibuya Tokyu HIKARIE.
May 2013: Selected as the Japanese representative designer for the INTERNATIONAL WOOLMARK PRIZE, a global competition.
May 2014: Selected for the second time as the Japanese representative designer for the INTERNATIONAL WOOLMARK PRIZE.
He also works as a freelance pattern maker and illustrator, having designed advertisements for Mary Quant.
